Company History

It was in 1961 that Simon Angerd, together with a couple of friends, founded the engineering firm Ray Metallfabrik AB. Production of items such as spark arrestors for tractors initially took place in Simon’s basement at his home in Ölsremma.

After a few years, production moved to a facility in Grönahög, south of Ulricehamn, and the idea of manufacturing sporty exhaust systems for cars gradually became a reality. Exhaust systems for vehicles such as the Volvo PV and the Saab 93/96 2-stroke became popular products and were marketed as Rallye Exhaust Systems.

In the early 1970s, following Simon’s death, his sons Lars and Sven-Åke Angerd moved the business to Ljungsarp. In 1980, the company began exporting its products, sales took off, and the company expanded.

The Simons Sportsystemen trademark was registered in the 1990s. The company is run by Lars Angerd and his family.

The workshop will be expanded to approximately 9,000 square meters, and the number of employees will increase to 50.

In 2011, Johan Angerd took over as CEO and now runs the company alongside his siblings as the third generation following Simon. We have approximately 55 employees and have expanded our operations to include not only the manufacture of sports exhaust systems but also contract manufacturing of exhaust components and other sheet metal and tube products for a wide range of industries.
